President Abdulla Yameen has said that Palestinians will not be able to gain peace through bloodshed.

He said this while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of K. Thulusdhoo’s new harbor on Sunday.

At the ceremony, President Yameen claimed that the opposition in the Maldives wants to teach citizens the lesson of “creating order through disorder,” adding that disorder will only create more disorder and that war will start even more wars.

“If peace follows bloodshed, then Palestine would have gained peace. Their demonstrations are being televised worldwide almost every night. Taking away the peace to demonstrate will not create peace. The destruction and killing will not create peace.”

President Yameen said that the government will always anticipate the needs of citizens and that it should not come to a point where citizens have to voice their concerns publicly. He also expressed his disapproval of demonstrations and urged people not to protest “day and night”.
