The Ministry of Housing and Infrastruicture has said that it will resume accepting applications for the state’s ‘Hiyaa’ housing program, after a three-day halt for Eid holidays.
Ahmed Fazaal, media official at the ministry, said that they will be accepting forms at the regular times, 10:30am to 01:30pm. and from 09:00pm to 11:00pm. Applications are open until the end of July.
The state shelter program ‘Hiyaa’ offers flats in 12 categories and select amounts of flats were developed for different demographics:
- Married couples between the ages of 18 and 40 – 1,000 flats
- Non-native residents of capital city Malé not included on registry (‘Dhaftharu’) – 1,000 flats
- Non-native residents of capital city Malé that are registered to the municipality – 1,044 flats
- Local doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals – 475 flats
- Local teachers and other academic professionals – 625 flats
- Unmarried individuals raising children alone – 500 flats
- Families of special needs people – 200 flats
- Civil Service employees – 256 flats
- Officers of the police – 300 flats
- Officers of the military – 300 flats
Minister Muizzu said in a conference earlier this year that they will announce recipients of flats under the program in August this year.
