President Abdulla Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim have exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings with the public.
The president and first lady had met and greeted citizens during a function held for it at the Rasrani Bageecha.
“Exchanging Eid greetings and well wishes within the Muslim community is part of good Islamic conduct and that the festive occasion of Eid is a time to meet up with one another in the spirit of unity” the president said in an address on Thursday night.
The President’s Office released a statement about the matter which said a ‘large number’ had attended the function, including ‘state officials, state dignitaries, diplomats and senior government officials’.
