A mulfunctioning generator battery has caused a minor explosion at the powerhouse in Maafaru island.

The state-run Fenaka Corporation operates the island’s powerhouse, as it does for most other islands in the country.

The incident had caused a temporary power outage on the island, although service was quickly returned.

RaajjeMV was unable to acquire a comment from the Fenaka Corporation at the time of publishing and the reason for the malfunction is yet to be ascertained.

No individuals were injured in the incident.
