A 24-year-old man has died after he was hit by a motorcycle in Hulhumale’ on Saturday night.

He died at Treetop Hospital early Sunday morning while being treated for serious head injuries.

He was struck by a speeding 18-year-old motorcyclist while walking by Central Park at 9pm after a jog.

Two people had been on the motorcycle at the time of the accident. The 18-year-old has been taken to ADK hospital for treatment, also for head injuries. The passenger was not seriously injured.

Road accidents in Hulhumale’ have increased in the current fasting month of Ramadan, with four people being seriously injured in four separate accidents so far.
