Three individuals have been injured in an explosion at a premises run by local restaurant chain Shell Beans.
An official from the ADK Hospital said that three of them are being treated there and one of them requires surgery while the other sustained severe injuries. A hospital official described the latter individual’s condition as serious.
The other individual requiring surgery, sustained wounds to his thigh from a fragment propelled by the explosion.
The other individual involved in the incident had been a resident of the adjacent building and sustained only minor injuries.
The explosion was reported at about 6:15am on Saturday. Authorities say the explosion occurred in a kitchen run at the premises. Shell Beans operates an outlet on the first two floors of the 10-storey building.
The explosion has been reported to be considerable, with windows and other glass fittings have sprayed as far as 300 feet and some heavier fixtures such as aluminium fittings had sprayed about 200 feet.
