The government has refused to release Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth’s passport to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Sri Lanka.
In a tweet on Saturday, the MP said that the police service and the Criminal Court has refused to release his passport for no valid reason.
In the tweet, he shared a picture of him with his grandfather and also attached a picture of a request to release his passport submitted to the Criminal Court on May 24, when his grandfather was still being treated in the neighboring country.
For no valid reason, @PoliceMV & the CC refused to release my Passport today, preventing me from attending my grand-father's funeral.
