MDP continues to get votes by walking with the ballot box door-to-door in addition to collecting votes in plastic bags
Since the court order does not mention 'Maldivian Democratic Party' anywhere, MDP stated that the police interrupting the party primaries is unacceptable

Since the police have confiscated several ballot boxes used in Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) primary election, the party continues voting in items such as cement mixer machines and ice boxes.

Ice box used to collect votes

While citizens of Laamu Gan continues to vote in a cement mixer machine when the ballot box placed there was confiscated, Alif Alif Rasdhoo citizens continued voting in an ice box.

Furthermore MDP continues to get votes by walking with the ballot box door-to-door in addition to collecting votes in plastic bags.

While the leading opposition party continues the voting process in creative ways, Civil Court has issued an order to stop the party primaries. The temporary court order released with the signature of the court's chief judge Ali Abdulla, stated that allowing a convict, such as former President Mohamed Nasheed, to contest in the election is illegal.

The order was released after Attorney General (AG)made the request for a court order to stop the primary election, which began at 2pm, Wednesday. AG made the request after the Elections Commission (EC) also requested the police service and the home ministry to stop the election.

MDP has said that the aforementioned court order asked to stop 'Maldives Democratic Party' and that it did not include MDP's name. Since the court order does not mention 'Maldivian Democratic Party' anywhere, MDP stated that the police interrupting the party primaries is unacceptable.
