The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has filed cases at the Civil Court seeking compensation in unpaid taxes and fines.

MIRA has filed cases against 15 companies and individuals, who together make up unpaid taxes and fines amounting to MVR 8.3 million.

Most of these tax law violations include not paying goods and services tax (GST) or not submitting GST statements by the set deadline.

Other tax violations that MIRA is seeking compensation for is unpaid business profit taxes and lease rents.

This May, MIRA had also filed 25 similar cases seeking compensation for unpaid taxes and fines.
