The only candidate contesting in Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) primary election, former President Mohamed Nasheed's campaign team is to hold a special rally, as their last event before the party primary on May 30.
Speaking at the opening event of a new campaign office in capital Male' City on Sunday night, Nasheed's campaign manager Mohamed Aslam said that they hope to hold the rally in the carnival area in the capital on May 29. However, he highlighted that they have yet to be given approval to hold the event there.
'"We tried to hold the rally in Alimas Carnival. However, due to lack of cooperation from the government, we still have not been able to secure the location. Regardless, we will hold the rally somewhere", said Aslam.
The former president's campaign manager also noted that the campaign team is working tirelessly to hold a campaign activities in each and every inhabited island in the country, before the party primary on May 30.
