South-Thinadhoo MP Abdulla Ahmed has expressed concern over the newly tarred roads in GDh Thinadhoo having no drainage system.

MP Abdulla said that the company tasked with establishing the drainage system is still yet to start construction, even though some time have passed since it was handed the project.

He said that the island residents are complaining over the roads becoming flooded every time it rains.

Police were active in Thinadhoo on Saturday night due to flooding caused by heavy rain.

Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) and Sierra developed 18 tarred roads in the island. The government stated that MVR 80 million has been spent on the project.
