WAMCO to begin waste collection in afternoon, after complaints

Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has decided to collect waste in the afternoon starting Friday.

There have been public complaints over the amount of waste in the streets of Male’ in the fasting month of Ramadan.

In a statement released on Thursday, WAMCO stated that it had first decided to collect waste only at night during Ramadan after conducting a survey, but that its employees have faced difficulties collecting in the nighttime.

WAMCO had first decided to collect waste in Male’ and Villimale’ during Ramadan from 8pm to 12am. After the change, WAMCO employees will also be collecting waste from 2pm to 5pm.

Also in the statement, WAMCO apologized for any inconvenience and to contact its hotline, 1666, to address any complaint.
