The Criminal Court has cancelled Sunday’s hearing scheduled for Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom due to his poor health.

Maumoon’s hearing on charges of obstructing justice set for 3pm was cancelled at around 4pm after the request of his legal team.

The obstruction of justice charges were raised against Maumoon, Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, and Justice Ali Hameed after the three refused to hand over their phones after their arrests.

Maumoon was also unable to attend the previous court hearing on May 8 and so the hearing continued without him.

He was taken to ADK Hospital on Friday to undergo tests. His legal team has recently said that his health became critical three times in the past 10 days.

He is in jail for the remainder of his terrorism trial.
