The Long March 3B launch vehicle lifted off from Launch Complex 2 at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China at 12:06 p.m on Tuesday.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) announced the success of the launch just over an hour after the liftoff.

The company established in 1992 already has Apstar 5, Apstar 6, Apstar 7 and Apstar 9 orbiting the world. 

According to APT Satellite, the newly launched satellite will replace the in-orbit Apstar-6 satellite, providing high-power transponder services for video distribution, broadband internet access, and cellular backhaul. The satellite company already provides the aformentioned services at a widest range in Asia, Europe and Middle-Eastern countries.
