Housing Ministry has started steepening the swimming track area on the south side of Malé on Saturday, since sand accumulation in the area has resulted in the track getting extremely shallow.

Sand accumulation in the swimming track has been causing various problems for the people using the track for quite some time now. While the swimming platform at the track cannot be used during low tide, water does not cover several parts of the area even during high tide.

Therefore RaajjeMV broadcasted a report on concerns regarding the issue last week, after which Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu posted a tweet on 4th May disclosing the government's decision to steepen the area upon Youth Ministry's request.

The government started steepening the swimming track area with a highmark crane on 5th May, Saturday. Out of the two swimming platforms at the track, they took out the one near 'Usfasgandu' and started digging towards that area.

RaajjeMV was not able to get more information from Housing Ministry regarding the activity.
