The Criminal Court has scheduled the next hearing on the obstruction of justice charges against Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed for next Sunday.

Saeed is accused of having having barred the Supreme Court from recieving letters addressed to it, by ordering the cessation of receiving through the state’s Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS).

The hearing has been scheduled for 10:00am on Sunday. The last hearing for the case held last Thursday and judge had heard testimonies from all witnesses presented against the apex court adjudicator.

RaajjeMV understands that the court will hear testimonies from witnesses presented by Saeed in his defence.

The chief justice is also facing allegations of terrorism for allegedly ‘conspiring to overthrow the government’. He was arrested alongside Supreme Court justice Ali Hameed, who is also facing charges for which a hearing has been set for Sunday as well.
