South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof has aimed some probing questions at Hassan Luthufee, the President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) after his secret testimony to the police was leaked.

According to the secret testimony, Luthufee told the police he had knowledge that jailed Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed had looked into luxury apartments in Malaysia after opposition Jumhoree Party (JP)’s leader Qasim Ibrahim agreed to pay for it.

In a tweet on Friday night, MP Mahloof asked why the ACC did not investigate the alleged transactions between the opposition party leader and the judges after Luthufee received the information.

Mahloof also asked why Luthufee withheld information of the alleged plan to overthrow the government being orchestrated at the Supreme Court from the police service and President Abdulla Yameen.

The secret testimonies were taken during the police investigation of the Supreme Court order on February 1 to release nine political prisoners and reinstate 12 dismissed opposition MPs. The government had refused to implement the order and on February 5, President Abdulla Yameen declared a state of emergency and jailed Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed at the courthouse.

In the testimony, ACC chief Luthufee said he was watching Hindi film “Padmaavat” at Schwack Cinema in Hulhumale’ when the February 1 court order was issued. Although Luthufee goes to dinner with Justice Hameed, he said he had no prior knowledge of the impending court order. Luthufee said he later warned Justice Hameed not to go against the government.
