Pepper-spray mugging: police yet to make any arrests

Maldives Police Service has said that they have yet to make any arrests over a mugging that took place o Wednesday.

RaajjeMV understands that two men on a motorcycle had blocked the victim and grabbed the money- over MVR one million, as two others approached from behind. One is reported to have pepper-sprayed the individual.

The victim, a manager of a Western Union branch on Chaandhanee road, told the media that he usually works at home after closing the office in the evening, and that the large sum of stolen money were from Tuesday. He also said that the mugging seemed to have been well planned.

While police have said that they are still investigating the incident, a similar incident on the night of April 2 in which prominent business Abdulla Jaleel (Kayne Seytu) was pepper sprayed and mugged of a million Rufiyaa. It is not clear whether anyone was arrested regarding this case.
