Ahmed Nihan, parliamentary group leader of the ruling party, has said that they wish to keep President Abdulla Yameen in power even after two terms.

Speaking at a ruling party event in Ivahandhoo on Thursday night, Nihan said that every night and day he thinks of ways to get around the Constitution limiting individuals to serving two five-year terms.

Nihan noted that while the previous administration managed to undertake three development projects in Ihavandhoo, the President Yameen's administration has undertaken 14 in four years.

Severely criticizing former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration, Nihan said that Nasheed is now in a foreign country and has no thought of developing Maldives.

He said that the current administration is capable of bringing development and that President Yameen’s rule will be extended to more than two terms for the sake of development.
