Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed is to be summoned at the Criminal Court at 3:00pm on Wednesday for the first preliminary hearing on terrorism charges.
MP Ilham was charged for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government and has been remanded for the rest of his trial.
He was arrested after giving himself up to the authorities after the police service announced a search for him on February 12, during the state of emergency.
Others allegedly involved in the plot include former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, Justice Ali Hameed, former police commissioner Ahmed Areef, opposition party JP’s deputy leader Abdulla Riyaz, Mahchangolhi MP Abdulla Sinan, Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon, and Mohamed Nadheem.
