Officers of the Maldives Police Service have revealed that they are investigating allegations of a father assaulting his daughter.
The police’s spokesperson said that the matter was reported to them on Monday night, and that the family in question is native to Dhevvadhoo island in Gaafu Alifu atoll.
The spokesperson said that no arrests have yet been made in relation to this.
The police confirmed their investigation while a video posted on social media shows a man in Dhevvadhoo island mistreating his daughter and using derogatory language towards her.
