MP Mustafa slams President Yameen over car tow

Mustafa later thanked officers for not towing his car

After his car was almost towed, Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Mustafa said that President Abdulla Yameen now knows that he can steal everything except him and his children.

In a series of tweets in Dhivehi on Tuesday, MP Mustafa said that the traffic police called him to say that the economic ministry had ordered them to tow Mustafa’s car.

MP Mustafa said that his car was parked at the parliament building’s parking zone and not on the economic ministry’s property.

“I am still the Thimarafushi constituency’s MP,” he said.

In another tweet, he said that he was not worried over his Mercedes-Benz A180 being ‘stolen’, as the ruling party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), had stolen a USD 7 million cargo ship. He also claimed that he has received information that the party would also be stealing land, property, and buildings in Thilafushi.

In an interview with RaajjeMV, Mustafa said that his close friends near the parliament building had seen police officers trying to tow his car with a forklift. While the officers first said they would not be responsible for any damages, they later allowed the car to be driven away from the parking zone.

After this interview, Mustafa took to Twitter to thank the officers, saying that they did not want to partake in the stealing of people’s property.
