The local Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has revealed that they are looking for machinery to lay tarmac and are hiring individuals to operate them.

The ministry released an announcement stating as such, which also said that companies or organizations interested in the project can apply before April 19th.

The ministry has been active in reconstructing Boduthakurufaanu Magu, which stretches around capital city Malé and is its largest road, to expand it.

The government has been criticized for clearing this road of all plantation, with several large and old trees being chopped down. The ministry said it would plant 450 new ones once the project is complete.

The reconstruction of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is to be complete for the opening of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, which is set to open by the 26th of this July.
