The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party has called on the state to drop its charges against the Malé City Council’s Central-Maafannu representative Azra Moosa.

Police forwarded the case for prosecution late last month. Azra was arrested near the central bank Maldives Monetary Authority premises in capital city Malé, during an opposition demonstration.

Azra is being charged with allegations of obstructing the conduct of a law enforcement officer.

RaajjeMV understands that the police have built their case around her arrest on February 27th. She was initially remanded for nine days in house arrest.
