Terrorism charges are being used to maintain President Abdulla Yameen’s rule, says the Joint Opposition parties.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain said that, just like the four party leaders and their children, the fate of anyone who speaks out against the government is jail.
Ali Hussain said that citizens have the right to speak out against national corruption and can use political parties to do so.
He said that the reform work has succeeded when seeing that the Joint Opposition has the majority and also the support of the judiciary before the arrest of the Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed.
Hussain condemned the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)’s recent decision to suspend the jailed justices without pay and said that they have done nothing wrong and should not be charged with terrorism.
