RaajjeTV staff assists SanguTV over fine

Both RaajjeTV and VTV has also been fined MVR 100,000 earlier for statements made by MP Mustafa during live TV interviews

RaajjeTV staff has decided to assist SanguTV over a fine imposed by the broadcasting commission (BroadCom) for a statement MP Mohamed Mustafa made during a live show.

RaajjeTV said they have decided to help out the SanguTV staff in order to encourage the free media in the Maldives.

BroadCom imposed a MVR 100,000 fine on SanguTV over a live TV interview with MP Mohamed Mustafa, in which the lawmaker made statements that ‘defamed’ President Abdulla Yameen.

SanguTV is also required to televise a statement of apology for airing MP Mustafa’s statements before April 8.

This is the first time SanguTV has been fined for violating defamation laws. Both RaajjeTV and VTV has also been fined MVR 100,000 earlier for statements made by MP Mustafa during live TV interviews.
