RaajjeTV journalist Hussain Hassan is to be summoned to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) and the National Integrity Commission (NIC).
The summons is in regards to the abuse and injuries authorities inflicted on Hussain during his coverage of the protest on February 16.
RaajjeTV’s lawyer Mohamed Nishan Ibrahim said he is to be summoned to HRCM on Sunday at 10am, and summoned to NIC on Monday at 11am.
Police had arrested Hussain while covering the opposition rally, and was later taken to hospital for treatment due to injuries sustained during and after the arrest. Video footage shows him having difficulty breathing, as he was carried into a police vehicle from police headquarters that night.
Hussain spent a week in ICU and during that time HRCM members came in to monitor and take photos of his injuries. He was later taken to Sri Lankan for further treatment.
