ADK Hospital has conducted the first 3D high definition laparoscopic surgery in Maldives.
Laparoscopy is a surgical diagnostic procedure used to examine the organs inside the abdomen.
The process uses an instrument called a laparoscope, a slender tool with a small video camera and light. The surgeon inserts it through a small cut on the patient’s body and observe the process through a video monitor. It's a low-risk, minimally invasive procedure that requires only small incisions.
ADK Hospital conducted the three-hour surgery on Thursday using the latest in health technology inside its “sunrise” theatre.
ADK’s managing director Ahmed Afaal congratulated the doctors and shared photos of the procedure on social media.
