Foreign Minister Mohamed Asim has met with his Kuwaiti counterpart and senior officials of the Kuwait Fund, as part of his official visit there.
Minister Asim is in Kuwait as an envoy of President Abdulla Yameen. He had met with Foreign Minister Sabah Al Khaled Al Sabah, who is also the nation’s deputy prime minister.
They discussed bilateral relations between nations, and to deliberate on ‘strengthening the close friendly relations between Maldives and Kuwait’.

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is commonly known as the Kuwait Fund. It is a state-supported agency launched in 1961 to provide and administer financial and technical support to developing nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Asim and senior officials of the agency discussed ongoing projects under Kuwait Fund assistance and reiterated commitment to work closely.

Minister Asim was accompanied by Secretary Bilateral Ahmed Khaleel, Kuwaiti Ambassador Abdullah Hameed Director at the Foreign Ministry Abdul Waris Saeed.
The delegation concluded their visit and arrived back in the Maldives on Friday.
