The Criminal Court has cancelled the hearing scheduled for detained MP Abdulla Sinan, who represents people of the South-Mahchangoalhi constituency.
The court has not revealed a reason for the cancellation. Sinan was, on March 18th, remanded for a period of 15 days.
The lawmaker was arrested during Maldives’ contentious state of emergency and was detained for a number of days without being brought before a judge.
Sinan is accused of being actively involved in what the government has described as a conspiracy to overthrow the government, and of bribery for this purpose.
However, the police have also put forth charges of terrorism against him.
