Supreme Court must decide on government’s unlawful actions: MP Mariya
She noted that matters involving lawmakers are resolved by the Supreme Court
She stressed that the apex court’s bench of justices should be given adequate security

The Supreme Court must make a decision on the ‘unlawful’ actions of the government, opposition aligned MP Mariya Ahmed Didi has said.

The long serving lawmaker said this while speaking at a political talk show on RaajjeTV, adding that matters of dispute between the parliament and government are resolved by the apex court.

She further said that matters involving lawmakers are resolved by the Supreme Court as well, and matters involving the government should similarly be dealt with by its justices.

Further saying that the apex court’s bench of justices should be given adequate security and be exempt from direct control of the executive branch, MP Mariya said the government has taken action against those they are displeased with.

“Highly politicized cases against anyone that takes a definitive stand against the government and them being labelled as terrorists has become commonplace” she said.

The lawmaker called on those in government and law enforcement bodies to refrain from obeying orders that are unlawful and violate the spirit of the constitution.
