Singapore has defeated the Maldives national team 3-2 in a friendly match at the National Stadium on Friday.
The national team’s new coach Petar Segrt oversaw the match with the first half being played by younger players in the team.
Singapore’s Captain Hariss Harun scored the first goal in the 38th minute, with Mohamed Umair scoring less than two minutes later.
Singapore retook the lead with goals from Shahdan Sulaiman and Shakir Hamzah in the second half. Then Ibrahim Mahudhee scored another goal for Maldives with eight minutes on the clock.
Maldives, ranked 150th in the world, have lost all six previous meetings with Singapore.
This friendly match was played in anticipation of Maldives’ AFC Cup qualification match with Bhutan on Tuesday.
