A young man, whose identity his family wishes to be kept out of the public eye, has been injured by a speeding military vehicle losing control and crashing into him.

The accident occurred on the outskirts of capital city Malé, near the local market area on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The young man seated on his parked motorcycle when the vehicle crashed into him. He had sustained several injuries as a result of this.

While the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital has said that the results of most tests are yet unclear, at the time of publishing.

Doctors say that he has sustained several external injuries but the full extent of his injuries are yet to be clarified.

The man’s family says that officers involved in the accident gave them assurance that all the medical costs would be covered by the Maldives National Defence Force.

While this is yet to be made official, an officer is currently stationed with the man and his family at the hospital.

After the government announced its contentious state of emergency, officers have been patrolling the capital city in these vehicles, which stand at least as tall and large as an ambulance.
