PPM to submit no-confidence motion against Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham

Lamakers aligned with the ruling faction of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) is to file a no-confidence motion against Prosecutor General (PG) Aishath Bisham.

RaajjeMV has received credible information that the motion is to be submitted to the parliament floor at a sitting next week, although the reason for it is unclear.

Although PG Bisham is yet to address this, reports have surfaced that she has been estranged from the government since Maldives’ ongoing state of emergency was extended.

A letter submitted from her office to the Maldives Correctional Service and the Maldives Police Service before the parliament’s decision to extend the emergency, asks them to release individuals detained under it.
