Supreme Court again cancels hearing over reinstatement of lawmakers
The hearing was scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday
The last hearing for the case was also cancelled
The court had overturned its ruling to free political detainees, after two justices were arrested

The Supreme Court has cancelled its hearing over the Attorney General’s case seeking to overturn the court’s earlier ruling to reinstate 12 lawmakers whose seats have been contested.

The hearing was scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday. The last hearing for the case, scheduled for February 27th, was also cancelled.

The Attorney General’s Office sent a letter to the apex court, following its controversial ruling on 1st February to have the lawmakers reinstated, seeking to overturn the decision.

The Supreme Court on February 1st ruled to reinstate the 12 lawmakers whom the Elections Commission dismissed citing an earlier ruling on floor-crossing.

The court had also ruled to release nine individuals deemed to unfairly imprisoned, although this was later overturned at the request of the Attorney General’s Office, after two justices had been arrested.
