Police have released Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla after confiscating his phone.

MP Abdulla was arrested on Sunday morning under the State of Emergency (SoE) decree and released in the afternoon.

A few other parliamentarians have also been arrested under the State of Emergency decree including Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon (nephew of President Abdulla Yameen), Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed, South-Mahchangoalhi MP Abdulla Sinan, and South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Abdulla Saeed, Justice Ali Hameed, and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (President Yameen’s brother) were arrested on the same night the SoE was declared.
