Home ministry’s media official arrested

Home Ministry’s media official Thazmeel Abdul Samad has been arrested.

RaajjeTV understands that Thazmeel, who is known to be a close associate of one of the recently arrested police officers, was taken into police custody on Friday night for undisclosed reasons.

Thazmeel is also known to be a close associate of former home minister Umar Naseer, who helped him get a position in the political sector.

This comes at a time when politicians and their colleagues are being held in police custody over allegations of planning to overthrow the government.

Those arrested so far include former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, Justice Ali Hameed, numerous lawmakers, senior military and police officers, and a foreigner.
