Saturday’s protest began near the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) campaign hall in Hithadhoo at 4pm

A senior official of the opposition has said they will begin holding daily protests in Addu City.

The official said the ‘never ending protest’ will continue until the government implements the Supreme Court ruling issued on 1st February.

Police had stopped the opposition's bike ride demonstration on Friday but allowed First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim’s rally in Addu, said the official.

Saturday’s protest began near the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) campaign hall in Hithadhoo at 4pm. Sunday’s protest is set to be held in Maradhoo.

Friday’s protest was interrupted by the police service’s Special Operations (SO) officers, but protesters squeezed through them and moved from the MDP campaign hall to Hithadhoo’s Pebbles Inn.
