Opposition-aligned lawmaker Mohamed ‘Muhammaa’ Abdulla has been summoned for police questioning, on allegations involving Friday’s rally.
Muhammaa is being summoned for allegations of deliberately attempting to cause unrest in the capital city on 16th February. He is to attend the police headquarters at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
The Ihavandhoo constituency representative was a highly vocal speaker of Friday’s rally, which called for the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling earlier this month to be enforced, the rule of law to upheld, and for President Abdulla Yameen to resign.
MP Ahmed Mahloof, the spokesperson for the allied opposition parties, has also been summoned for police questioning. He had been arrested at the rally as well.
Mahloof has been summoned for 03:00 and 05:00 PM, reportedly for a tweet he had posted. The exact allegations put forth against him are yet unclear.
