A protester was injured after officers of Maldives Police Service (MPS) had attempted to break apart Friday's opposition-led warm-up rally.
Eye witnesses reported that the protester, Mohamed Usman, was injured during this attempt. The eye witnesses also reported that Usman had cautioned Police, saying that he had had an operation done on his arm before. However, Police had pushed the crowd back, during which Usman was injured.
He was taken to ADK hospital for emergency treatment. X-rays taken from ADK shows a fracture on his right arm. He was later transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
Usman is native to Thulhaadhoo island in Baa Atoll.
