Police say they will not allow upcoming opposition rally to be held
Ahmed Shifan, the MPS’ spokesperson, said this while speaking at a press conference

The Maldives Police Service has said that it will not allow the allied opposition parties’ upcoming rally to be held.

Ahmed Shifan, the MPS’ spokesperson, said this while speaking at a press conference held on Monday.

Shifan said that the police will not tolerate residents of the outer lying atolls coming into the country and compromising peace and security in the capital.

He was keen on the issue, and added that the police will take legal action against such individuals.

Police further said that there are organizations in the country that actively work to disrupt peace, naming an arson attack Addu City as an example of this.

The military’s spokesperson, Captain Ibrahim Azim, also said that an upcoming opposition rally may end up hindering national security.
