Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed’s spouse, Fathimath Nasira, has reportedly denied the allegations for which police are investigating her.
RaajjeMV understands that she is facing four separate allegations, that of accepting bribes, influencing the conduct of a public official, conspiring to overthrow the government, and of terrorism.
Nasira’s lawyer, Ali Abdul Latheef, said that she has denied all charges. Nasira has been in incarceration at Dhoonidhoo island since last Wednesday.
Police announced on Sunday that they had discovered large amounts of cash in the possession of the Supreme Court justices arrested on allegations of bribery.
There had also been multiple such instances of communication between Justice Ali Hameed and former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, police said in a press conference.
The justices were arrested days after the Supreme Court made a unanimous ruling to free political detainees, which has since been reversed by three sitting justices.
The President’s Office had announced a state of emergency and forcibly entered the Supreme Court premises to carry outs said arrests.
