Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has chosen former Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel and former Home Minister Umar Naseer as his political advisors.
Qasim made the announcement at a JP signing ceremony in Germany, where he has been living since fleeing a three-year jail term.
Umar Naseer and Dr Jameel were both senior members of President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, and Dr Jameel played an important role in campaigning for President Yameen during the election. Dr Jameel was later impeached through a vote in parliament.
Those that signed into the party at the ceremony are Dr Jameel, former State Minister Mohamed Ahmed Manik, former Youth Minister Mohamed Maleeh, former Minister at the President’s Office Abdulla Ameen, and Dr Shah Mahir.
