After 56 hours off air, RaajjeTV resumed its regular broadcast at 7:00am on Sunday.

RaajjeTV, the most viewed TV channel in Maldives, shut down its broadcast on Thursday night after continued threats to the station and staff.

At the time, RaajjeTV said it had no choice but to stop the broadcast in order to ensure the safety of its staff, who were being threatened by pro-government mobs and senior ruling party officials.

The opposition aligned TV station was also repeatedly given warnings over its content that government authorities claimed were a danger to national security.

In a statement, RaajjeTV said the Maldives Broadcasting Commission, police service, and military have ignored its request to address the danger to the station. However, it has resumed its broadcast due to appeals from its viewers.
