Former President Mohamed Nasheed is reportedly to visit India this month.

Indian news outlet The Wire reported that the self-exiled opposition leader will be attending a literature festival held by another news outlet The Hindu from February 17 to 18.

No other sources have confirmed his visit to the festival in Bangalore.

Nasheed’s visit comes after he requested India’s intervention to solve the current political crisis in Maldives.

India has said it is seeking help from the United Nations (UN) to send a fact-finding mission to Maldives to observe and assess the situation.
