Transparency Maldives (TM) has expressed concern over the 'targeted intimidation' of journalists, and 'disregard' of their rights.
TM said this in a series of posts on Twitter, where the non-profit had also highlighted the threats posed against Raajje Television (RaajjeTV).
.@TransparencyMV condemns the continued intimidation of media and the incessant disregard towards the fundamental right to freedom of press. This environment of fear and intimidation targeted at journalists and media outlets by the State needs to cease. 1/3

The posts also called on the state to ensure accountability in law enforcement, over the continued threats that the station and other media outlets receive.
RaajjeTV said in a statement that the station and its staff have been receiving death threats since they began covering the results of last Thursday's controversial Supreme Court ruling.

The station made the decision on Friday night, following the military decision to have media outlets penalized and the police's negligence to continue providing security.
