Supreme Court has overturned parts of their own ruling.
A ruling issued by Supreme Court on Tuesday evening says that points two and five of the Supreme Court ruling of Thursday.
Point two of Thursday's ruling says that its bench of justices is exempt from the authority of the judicial oversight body, the Judicial Services Commission.
The ruling states that the Judicial Services Commission, despite having the statutory right to oversee cases involving the judiciary and its personnel can no longer do so with those involving the apex court bench.
Point five of Thursday's ruling called on authorities to release former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, former defense Minister Mohamed Nazim, Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdullah, former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, Muhthaaz Muhsin, Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Judge Ahmed Nihan and businessman Hamid Ismail.
This ruling was issued after Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed were taken into Police custody. The remaining three Justices of the bench had passed the new motion.
