Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the release of a total of nine political prisoners

Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon has been refusing to enter his jail cell in Dhoonidhoo Prison since the Supreme Court order to release him.

The Court on Thursday ordered the release of a total of nine political prisoners.

RaajjeMV understands that Faris had declared himself free following the order, and has refused to enter his cell.

He now mostly spends his time at the prison's mosque, and since he has not been causing any difficulties to officers, they have allowed Faris to remain outside his cell.

RaajjeMV was also told that a new court order would be needed to take him back into his prison cell.

A close associate of Faris said police officers in Dhoonidhoo Prison respects the Supreme Court order, and has been treating Faris well. But if word of this spreads in the media, it is likely that Faris will be illegally placed back in jail, he added.
