MPS arrests two for obstructing rally participants
Participants say Govt. intends to disband rally using any means possible
The two individuals arrested for obstructing rally
Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested two individuals who had attempted to obstruct the joint opposition rally.
Two individuals on a motorcycle had attempted to break protest ranks, while the protesters were making their way towards Prosecutor General (PG) Office from Male’ jail area.
The two individuals were arrested immediately.
The protest was then carried out in the area, where Police had attempted to disband the protesters using pepper spray and force. Officers had also attempted to halt journalists from recording the scene, going as far as to push the journalists away from the area.
RaajjeTV’s Hussain Hassan reported from the field that those officers had their faces concealed and had pushed him to the ground, as seen live on the broadcast.
