Police begins work to enforce Supreme Court ruling
The court ruling came on Thursday
Police said that they will enforce it

Police revealed that they are to enforce the Supreme Court ruling on Thursday night.

The court ruled on Thursday night that several members of the opposition and other prominent figures in the local political sphere currently serving criminal sentences be released.

The Maldives Police Service said in a post on its official Twitter account that the decision to enforce the ruling was made after having consulted it with the police commissioner and his deputy, and that they have begun work to enforce the ruling.

Supporters of the allied opposition parties are celebrating the ruling at the site where they had earlier gathered for a rally. However, officers of the police are currently active in the area attempting to disband it.
